The Lake & Stars

For Spring/Summer 2012, designers Maayan Zilberman & Nikki Dekker traveled to Mexico City to design their collection. More than a lingerie line, the collection takes inspiration from the photographic comparison of 1950’s to current-day Mexico City. The social interaction of powerful young women today, dressed in tailored menswear of the ’50s with feminized cut and drape and bold jewelry are set against post-Revolutionary images of Mexico. Looking to this era of Mexico through photographs, the designers worked in their signature combination of utility and ornamentation in tightly pleated gold lame, desert landscape-patterned lace, Aztec cotton embroideries, and layers of amphibian-like fishnets and microfibers. Key pieces include bras, chemises, and teddies with Anndra Neen customized hardware.
