Dinner Party Paris

Our wonderful and very French friend Olivier Billon (CEO & Co-founder of Ykone & who interviewed us here) invited us over for an intimate dinner at his Parisian flat on our recent trip abroad. It was not only an enjoyable night because of the company and conversation but also due to the service Olivier hired to perform the meal. You get one chef who buys all the ingredients that morning at the market, makes hors d’oeuvres followed by a three course meal with wine pairings, and then cleans up the kitchen as well as all the dinnerware which means… our host was able to be with us and enjoy the evening as much as we did. I wish this were more common in the US, or rather I wish I were friends with people who do this (all the time).

My apologies, I have all these amazing and strange food photographs but not a clue what it was we actually ate. Our chef beautifully described each course as it was served…in French! That’s okay, it sounded better that way.

Bon appetit!

Merci beaucoup, Olivier!

Love the black and white photographs

  • It’s not often that we see you shooting food, but I really like it 🙂 And I must say that I’m totally in love with the photo of you with the bun. You look so casual but still so sophisticated, I love your personal style.

    Best,

Looks like a great time! l love the serving plates with the pretty hors d’oeuvres

We have services like that in Green Bay, WI…certainly it’s offered in New York as well?

  • This looks so indulgent! I was wondering, what kind of flash was used for thee photos? I’m in the market for one and since I host a great deal of dinner parties, I think pretty lighting like these are necessary.

  • What a grand dinner party, and so relaxing for the host to sit back and enjoy, often times you don’t even remember having the party because you were so harried.

  • Oh my goodness, what a great dinnerparty idea! Although I do enjoy the cooking I would at least love someone to come to do all the clearing up…

    Looks just lovely!!
I agree, wouldn’t it be super nice if we could all do something like this to entertain and spoil our guests! I just spend this past Sunday reading Soiree, so now I am all in to entertaining…

Mm, the food looks exquisite! Really nice photos. It does sound nice to have chefs manage the food while the host gets to entertain the guests. Why can’t it always be like that? The dress in the first colored photograph looks stunning! And you are so pretty~ How did you style your hair like that? Your look is a perfect combination of casual and refined.

I read about this in the Times: http://www.kitchensurfing.com/new-york — it sounds similar to what your host did in Paris. Chef buys ingredients, cooks, cleans up, etc.
