We’ve been hearing for a while that orange is the new black, but this season’s fashion week absolutely proved it. Bright orange lips and nails were all over the runway, showing us that it’s time to break this color out!

Backstage at the DKNY show, it was all about the lip. Created using a mixture of Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids in #880 Electric Orange and #890 Neon Red, it was vivid and eye-catching without being overwhelming. Lead makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury explained that applying the lipstick directly from the tube and then softening the edges with a finger helps take down the intensity.

To allow the lips to keep the spotlight, Tilbury kept the skin looking fresh and dewy with Dream Lumi Concealer and FIT me! Pressed Powder. The light touch of blush was, literally, a touch – Tilbury added Dream Bouncy Blush in Hot Tamale with her fingertips.

The minimal eye makeup was achieved with a light layer of Color Tattoo Metal Cream Gel Shadow in Barely Branded on the lid, with brows shaped using Master Shape Brow Pencil.

The nails – kept so fresh and clean – were all Essie with a coat of Limo-scene, topped by a layer of Mademoiselle, and finished with Good to Go! Top Coat.

Eugene Souleiman, global creative director at Wella Professionals, worked to create a clean, stylish look with a low, side-parted ponytail. He began by washing the models’ hair with Wella Professionals Shampoo and Conditioner to guarantee its perfect condition. Next, he applied Wella Professionals Velvet Amplifier throughout the hair and used a soft bristle brush to blow dry the hair flat to the head, creating a sleek waterfall of hair. Using a straightening iron to smooth and polish the hair, Souleiman then created a low side part while continuing to brush the hair flat and spraying it with Wella Professionals Stay Essential Finishing Spray. While pulling the hair over to a low ponytail on the opposite side from the part, he sprayed again with the Stay Essential Finishing Spray to ensure that all fly aways were tamed. Next, he secured the hair in to the low pony tail with elastic, letting the pony tail drape gently over the shoulder. As a final touch, he took a small pump of Wella Professionals Oil Reflections, rubbing it between his palms, and gently ran a soft brush over his palms to pick up a small amount of product, which he then brushed through the ponytail.
