How About We…

You know, Kevin and I often get dressed up for our dates, so I thought it might be fun to do something totally new and different – where my hair had to be tied back, comfy cotton clothes were the norm, and close-toed shoes were a must. If you follow our life here, or on Instagram or Tumblr, you know we love adventure and new experiences. I first heard about HowAboutWe from our assistant who is in the throes of the NYC dating scene (which I love to enquire about on a weekly basis). She introduced me to the part of the site where couples can choose amazing tailored dates to encourage people to “stay in love”…and they are awesome. All the details are taken care of, so it’s completely fool-proof and you can just focus on the fun part!

I chose glass blowing because it was totally different from anything we have ever done. I thought it would be terribly romantic to have the glasses we would create on the date (which turned out so hysterically lopsided that it’s charming and makes us giggle each time we look at them) in our new studio to remind us of the fun we had. I guess that makes me sentimental…but you already knew that.

The Derby / our end of day studio cocktail: 1 ounce bourbon whiskey3/4 ounce lime juice1/2 ounce sweet vermouth1/2 ounce Grand Marnier or orange curaçaoLime wedge or mint leaf, for garnish

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add bourbon, lime, sweet vermouth, and Grand Marnier and shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with lime wedge or mint leaf.

I fell totally in love with the experience and highly recommend it. For future dates, though, I’m dying to get a hands-on lesson to improve our pasta making skills; since we just got into Game of Thrones, THIS would be so fun; sometimes I just want to discover a cool new place because we can get stuck in a routine; and obviously I have to do this because of the movie Ghost.

What can I say, just because you’re married doesn’t mean you have to stop dating! Our friends at HowAboutWe offered $50 OFF any date in their collection (GUYS, ARE YOU LISTENING?) by clicking here. Obvi you need to become a member, but a member of love?… sign me up. Xx

Great tip, about marriage and dating! I’ve been having a weakness for glass blowing ever since I was a child. 🙂 My parents always took me to that kind of galleries and so.

  • Oh, how lovely! I have always wanted to take a glass blowing class. My husband actually took quite a few pottery classes while going through school so I think this is something that would make him so happy.

  • looks like so much fun – I’d love to try glass blowing
