You saw the images from yesterday…is Miss Amy K not to die for? I always say she reminds me of Grace Kelly, so I knew going into this shoot 2 important things – 1. Amy K was about to get some glamorous Hollywood hair treatment, and 2. Amy K was about to rock a serious lip.
But after seeing how gorgeous she was (and that’s even before a gown moment), I knew we couldn’t keep these beauty secrets to ourselves. So here’s a step-by-step for you…
first, the old Hollywood hair…
Put Hold Miracle Ultra Strong Cream Mousse in dry hair and give it a rough blow-dry.
Curl the hair with a 3/4 inch curling iron, and pin the curls under so they look like brick layers. This gives it a romantic, tousled look instead of being completely symmetrical and even. Use Schwarzkopf Professional Blond Me Supreme Shine Magnifying Spray to give a high shine and light hold to fine blonde hair.
Brushed out the pincurls with your fingers, then put the Schwarzkopf Session Label Salt Spray for added texture.
Finish the hair by smoothing it with a Mason Pearson regular brush.
next, get the glamour…
I learned so much about Stila products during this shoot, and I have to say I am amazed. First off, they were created by a makeup artist for makeup artists, which means most of the products are multi-use. Very helpful for the girl on the go! Stila is about minimal effort for maximum effect while also working to enhance, not mask the face. With these benefits in mind, they also focus on never using harsh chemicals, choosing instead to use things that help the skin, from vitamin E to green tea extracts to avocado oil! They’re coming up on their 20th anniversary and I can’t imagine a better way to celebrate than by showing you how to get Amy Keller’s super glamorous look, Stila style…
Prep the skin with Stila One Step Illuminate and then use HD Illuminating Beauty Balm. Starting off with One Step Illuminate gives you gorgeous, radiant skin, and then HD Illuminating Balm blurs out any imperfections.
For a finished yet light look, use Stila Stay All Day Foundation and Concealer only where needed. It’s wonderful because it allows your skin to continue to look like skin, so it’s not a heavy complexion product.
Use Stila Convertible Color Lip & Cheek Cream in Lillium for a flushed, romantic cheek. It gives a soft radiant glow, like you just came in from out in the wind.
Start with a base of Clay on the eye from the Stila In the Know Palette. To shape the eyes, use smudge sticks in muted tones like Sepia, Metallic Umber, and Angelfish. Because they move easily across the skin, they give a natural shape and definition to the eye without looking overly done. On top, sweep across the lids with Kitten Eyeshadow to add brightness to the center of the eye and bring it forward.
For old Hollywood, fully-fanned-out lashes, apply Stila Major MAJOR Mascara! It gives a really wet, high-intensity volume and length. Using a lash fan brush #32 gets you really close to the base of the lash line, and it never gets too clumpy with an intense mascara.
Now the lips…a matte stain of Stila Stay All Day Lipstick will do the trick! Mix a soft romantic pink and mix it with a coral for a bright, young, and fresh look.
Use a Stila Brow Pen to create and mimic the natural hairs of the brow (bonus: it’s waterproof!) To finish and set the shape of the brow, use Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel.
And last but not least, add a dab of wet Kitten Eyeshadow in the inside corner of the eye to really make it pop!
finish it up with natural looking nails…
Start with cuticle remover, then apply Deborah Lippmann Gel Lab Base Coat. For the fingernails, we used Naked, a sheer neutral with a bit of peach, and on the toes, Modern Love, for a very natural, clean, classic look. On both, end with Gel Lab Top Coat.
