PAULE KA

[P]AULE KA is coming to New York this December with a new boutique opening on Madison Ave. I was remembering my own New York debut a decade ago, the dreams I had of being a stylish woman walking down the sidewalks of the city.

You can easily see why I love this brand. They are French, the quality is incredible, and the clothing is so beautifully, simplistically chic. I want to be a PAULE KA girl, the kind of woman who is a CEO or senator, enjoys quality, and invests in classic wardrobe staples so she can look amazing while ruling the world.

When I was in Paris this fall I met with the Artistic Director of PAULE KA, Serge Cajfinger, an amazingly French man raised in Brazil (have you seen his Paris home!?) who built this company himself over 25 years ago, and aside from the boutique real-estate they have around the world now, he runs it just the same with as much passion as he did when he first started. His muses are Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly (something we have in common), and is the first thing I think of when I look at designs such as this. Along with that, Serge loves Madison Ave and opening a store on this stretch of retail royalty has been a dream of his.

I wanted to express that dream, to tell a story in photographs, the fantasy of our French girl coming to New York to find her new place in the world, discovering the beauty of the city and glamour of Madison Ave, not so unlike my own experience when I came here with a suitcase full of dreams…

How much retouching do you do postproduction when you do these fashion editorials? Is her skin really that flawless?

    • Hi Rebekah! She did have naturally crazy beautiful skin. I’m very big on not retouching, I find real beauty so much more inpiring.

      • Rebekah Zale

That’s really great to know, especially when the majority of images we see are so heavily photoshopped. I think i speak for most women when I say that I appreciate natural beauty being showcased. Thanks!

        • Could not agree more. So many magazines and advertisements upset me so much, this unrealistic idea of beauty when we are so beautifully naturally. Beauty comes in all different shapes and sizes and I just want that to show through. It’s more about dressing for your body shape and taking care of yourself, right?

  • *Swoon* OH my word, this is my dream wardrobe. His designs are stunning and perfectly paired with your photography…

  • Gorgeous photoshoot, modeled and styled perfectly!

  • I love that red dress at the end! Superb.

    The Occasional Indulgence

  • I kept on sighing with every photo, each one even prettier than the last and that cinemagrah oh my! That’s why I love your photography so much. Love the whole story you’re telling, everything fits perfectly <3 Hope to someday be able to do a shoot like this as well.
